Description

The SAVIC project compared in real time the rates of tourist establishments with their competitors on the basis of information from 6,300 rural accommodations.

The SAVIC project, as the Advanced Competition Surveillance System, was a system that allowed hotel establishments to compare in real time the rates of each tourist establishment with those of their competitors. This module uploaded price and tariff information, together with geo-positioned data on the accommodation and its category, to a common server.

With all this information on the server, comparisons were made, generating reports with average prices [among other functionalities]. Rural tourism establishments could access these reports to know their situation and apply Revenue Management in an optimal way.

Budget:
61.960 €
Financed by:
The Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade and the AEI Tourism Cluster of Extremadura

Objectives

The development of the SAVIC application will make it possible to:

  1. To increase the demand for rural tourism by encouraging customers, whether or not they are price-sensitive, to visit rural establishments by adapting to their needs.
  2. Eliminate, as far as possible, customers’ price sensitivities.
  3. To have information available on the supply of the rural tourism sector, fundamentally on rates, prices and discounts, to support business decision-making in the sector.
  4. Identify demand in all periods and make decisions in advance in order to maximise revenue.
  5. To identify average prices in order to facilitate the matching of the rural tourism offer with the demands of current customers, thus increasing the competitiveness of the sub-sector.
  6. To facilitate the adaptation of prices, tariffs and discounts to the needs of end customers.
  7. To achieve inter-company collaboration for the improvement of the rural tourism sector.
  8. To reduce, as far as possible, the seasonality of demand.
  9. To evaluate the possibility of applying Revenue Management through SAVIC- Advanced System of Technological Surveillance in rural tourism.
  10. Establish comparisons between possible competing destinations to support decision-making by the main agents involved.
